Summer Make-up Tips

It is summertime and this time of year I lighten up my makeup. Between the heat, sweat, and often general discomfort that comes with the hot and humid days of the Atlanta summer, my makeup follows the “less is more” method. Armed with a gift card from Walmart, I purchased some products that will take me through the summer.

my face with base

First I started with my base. Since it is summer, I primarily utilized Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB cream (check out my review) and added a little of my Black Radiance foundation (review) just to cover up my dark spots. I finished the look with some loose powder because I am prone to being shiny.

Now on to the new products! I wanted a neutral eye and to emphasize my lips. I found this palette from Wet & Wild for $3.49. It is called Silent Treatment and I love that each color is clearly labeled with browbone, crease and eyelid and on the back it provides directions on how to apply. This is great for new wearers of make-up.

I find it essential to wear eyeliner and I personally am a fan of liquid liner. I tried the new Maybelline master precise by eyestudio in black for $5.49. I like this liner because I can make a very thin barely visible line or for a more intense look I have the ability to make thick dramatic lines.

I was sent some Salon Perfect false eyelashes in a number of different varieties but this time I tried the natural look lashes. They enhanced my lashes without looking fake and although applying them takes some practice, the effect is well worth it. These are strip lashes so you will also need lash glue. I find that using tweezers makes the application a lot easier and help me reposition the lashes if I need to.

Finally, I tried the Maybelline Colorstaysenstion high shine lipgloss in Captivating Coral. I really like this color, it is subtle, not too striking but still a good look. I found that the gloss goes on smoothly and isn't sticky which is my pet peeve with many glosses.

Overall I am happy with my choice for summer make-up and look forward to added more glosses to change things up on a daily basis.

I love the way you put on your make up. I've always just been a mascara and chapstick kind of girl, but my daughter's are trying to convince me to get my sexy back so thanks for the tips.
