Wordful Wednesday

As I've mentioned in the past, my son enjoys talking on the phone. So much so that any object that remotely resembles a phone is bound to go up to his ear and he will start babbling. And, he will hand the "phone" over to you so that you can talk. But please don't mistake this for not knowing what an actual phone is. As illustrated in the photo below he knows how to hold onto the phone and have a conversation. When I took this picture I thought he was the cutest thing. As he holds the phone in one hand and the remote in the other it looks like he is truly running things.

I took a second look and realized I am seeing a glimpse of what he will look like as a teenager. Replete with the vaguely annoyed look that says "what do you want now mom?" I pause and remember to cherish each moment because he won't be a baby much longer.

Your son is so cute and he reminds me of my nephew when he was little. He used to love to play "talk on the phone" too. What a sweet picture.

Ha! That is a glimpse into teen... what a cutie.

That would be 'toddler multi-tasking'.

Very sweet. Yes, it goes faster than I had wanted but tweens, teens and twenty somethings do call home to mom!

how cute! my son loves his cell phone too. my husband works for a wireless company and they get non working dummy phones. he brings them home and every time he does my son's face just lights up!

Came over from Wordful Wednesdays! He DOES look like a little man...

Yep, there is definitely an attraction between babies and remotes (or anything else with buttons).

Yep, save this picture because I bet you'll find him in this exact position when he is a teenager!

A glimpse into the future! That is funny!

They grow up so fast!
It can be almost scary sometimes when you catch a glimpse of their future.

He is so cute!! And you're right, that is the same thing I find with my 14 year old with a grunt or annoyed look if I disturb him!

When I saw the picture I thought exactly what you ended up sharing. It looks like a future Mekhi with that "What?" look on his face.

Precious! I hear you on the "What do you want now Mom" look. I have an 11 year old and I get that look regularly. Soak up the sweet baby years!

I love it when my little monkeys pretend to be on the phone and repeat the same things I say.

That's funny--he looks like a natural with the phone in his habd while he's hanging out!

My daughter does the same thing. She'll even imitated our speaking on the phone. Your son is absolutely adorable and you caught him in a perfect shot. I see how you can visualize him 14 years from now with that same look on his face. Thanks for coming by yesterday and commenting.

He is so cute. And yes, that's my teen to a tee, monopolizing the television and the phone simultaneously. ;-)

He looks like he's asking you to bring him a Coke.

What a CUTIE! Oh my goodness. Isn't it hilarious when they send us looks you KNOW you will be seeing again when their teenagers? You have to cherish every second. I can't believe how fast they grow up! Great Wordful Wednesday and thanks for visiting me! Love your cakes too - you're very talented!

I am starting to love Wednesdays and for this reason of seeing everyone's wonderful families. You have such a cute son!

Such a cute picture! Owen does the same thing, thinking everything is a phone, especially remote controls. We've got a good future teenager picture too.

I love your cakes...they are adorable!

More people need to do these Wordful memes instead of WORDLESS Wednesday. Most of the people who do them are always explaining the pictures in the post, making them WORDFUL. Yay for Wordful Wednesday! I think Jay is going to be a littl Mekhi, he talks non stop but hasn't discovered how amazing the phone is yet! http://www.utterz.com/mommydaddyblog

Does Mekhi have braids or dreads? I can't wait until Jay's hair grows, he rubbed it all out in the back!

How cute is he? He is SUCH a boy!!

He is darling!! I love it when one of my kids who isn't entirely talking yet, answers the phone when it's a telemarketer.

Oh, he is totally ready for his teen years...kicking back w/the phone and remote... =)

Yes, he likes the phone. Did you post a photo not too long ago of him chatting to someone? He's a cutie and that's the exact teenaged look.

Debbie said...

Hi Renee..that picture is PRICELESS!!! He does look so annoyed that you are bugging him...too funny!

Aw, don't remind me about teenagers! I want to cry sometimes when I think about it!

Immoral Matriarch said...

My kids love to pretend their own the phone too. They even walk around in circles like I do when I'm on it. :)

Jenni said...

I can just picture him as a teenager now. My daughter is much the same, and her eight year old sister thinks she is a teenager already. She thinks she need a cell phone, HA. Thanks for stopping by today.

Yolanda said...

So precious! Of course by the time they are teenagers our kids will probably be doing some sort of laser mindmeld texting or something. I rarely see teens talking on phones anymore just typing their little thumbs away.

Oh my gosh, so adorable! I have a similar picture (well, a blurry one) but my son is trying to put both my cell phone and the remote into his mouth (there's a slight age difference between our sons ;) ).
