Red Hot Lips for Valentine's Day!

I have always wanted the perfect red lipstick to accentuate my full lips. I've tried high end brands like Channel and numerous drug store brands but never hit the mark. The lipstick bled or was too orange or just not the right red for my complexion. For Valentine's Day this year I decided I wanted the perfect red pout and was determined to find it. I took a trip to Walmart and scoured the aisles for my sexy red. I stopped by Iman Cosmetics because her red has received rave reviews and her line is specifically for women of color. But as usual, the red was out of stock and has been in all of the stores I've looked in!

Plan B. try to find another red that will work. Although I never tried L'Oreal lip colors before when I saw Infallible 8 hour lipgloss in red fatale  I had to try it for several reasons. First of course the color, it looked perfect. I am a major fan of glosses so this was right up my alley. At $8.47 a great price point - a little more than I usually spend on drugstore lipgloss but I thought it was worth it if the color worked out for me.   And finally, the long wear was also a bonus as I thought about the glasses of bubbly I might imbibe on Valentine's Day.

With red lips as the focal point, the rest of my face has to be flawless! I started with my favorite foundation - although I am a fan of brands like Lancome, Mac and others, the foundation that matches my complexion perfectly is only $3.99 and is Color Perfect by Black Radiance.  I actually was pleasantly surprised that Walmart carries it, I usually purchase it at my local drug store.

To ensure that my foundation is flawless and stays put I use a primer, I tried Hard Candy Sheer Envy Primer. It is truly lightweight and provided a great base for my foundation.  A little goes a long way so don't use too much. I find that wearing primer really enhances the wear of my foundation and keeps it in place. As far as primers go, at $8.00 I think this one is a steal!

And for my eyes I decided on a nude palette. No need to draw attention away from my hot red lips! I used NYC individual eyes. This is very easy to use. The palettes are designed for specific eye colors, I choose brown of course. And in this little case you have everything you need - eyeshadow primer (helps color pop and limits creasing), highlighters, and very clear directions on where to place the shadow. Simple!

I finished my look with my absolute favorite mascara of all time - Lash Stiletto by Maybelline. I have been wearing this for years and honestly on my lashes it is the next best thing to falsies!

Put it all together and my lips are poppin and sexy for Valentine's Day. Or any other day for that matter! What do you think?
