Earth Shoes Giveaway

For the longest time I’ve wanted to try out the athletic shoes, the ones that have the technology to give you a great workout built in. I’ve seen all sorts of but haven’t really been moved by the aestetics of the shoes, call me silly but I just don’t like the crazy looking wedge heels. When I was introduced to Earth Shoes I realized that not only do I not have to compromise on fashion but I can wear actual shoes that do the same job!

I was introduced to the shoes at the Type-A mom conference last year and I fell in love with all of the various styles. But I admit, I wasn’t quite sold on the idea that having a 3.7 degree incline built into the shoe with the toes positioned higher than the heel would actually help to shape me up. So, I just stuck to my old reliable and exercised hard in my regular sneakers.

This fall I was asked if I wanted to try out the line and decide for myself. Since I’m still curious I of course said yes. I was sent a pair of Acclaim boots to try out. Check it!

I love them from a purely fashion point of view. They are so nice, great leather, warm and above all comfortable. I suspect the comfort is due to the bio-foam cushioning and the arch support in the boots. On a recent cool day in Atlanta I decided to take them for a test drive. I have to tell you that with just my normal walking around town and doing errands I could feel the difference. Especially in my left calf, I had run in the morning and I could totally feel my muscles working when I wore the boots.  And I know for a fact it was the boots because I wore another pair of shoes for comparison purposes and didn’t feel my muscles working.

I’ve decided to hold off on wearing my boots until after my half-marathon on November 17th. I like to give my muscles a rest after running but once the race is over, I will be styling in my boots and exercising my muscles. The best part - no one will know and my body will benefit!

Have I intrigued you? Would you like to be the proud owner of a pair of these boots? Well, I have a Giveaway sponsored by Earth Shoes.

To enter simply tell me what you do to incorporate exercise in your regular activities. It can be something simple, like parking your car far from the door of the grocery store. Just let me know!

For extra entries you can tweet about the giveaway include the tag #earthshoes. Good luck!

I get off at work at 2 so I go to the park to walk until I have to go get my kids
Those are foxy! I like the Hype style even better.

I try to incorporate exercise into my day as much as possible with little things, like walking the dog or taking the kids outside to run around in the yard or on the playground. I also stretch whenever I think about it, which seems to help my overall mood and energy level.

Very cute boots. I've been parking further way for now, working my way up to walking at lunch!

Thanks for a giveaway!

OH I LOVE THOSE BOOTS! :) I
hate to exercise.....so what I do is carry around "canned vegetables" and use them to dance with , to the radio every now and again. I bought an indoor tampoline and jump on it a couple of times everytime I go thru the den..........I strap on ankle weights when I vaccum the floors and
I WALK to my friends house (about a mile) when I go to visit her rather than drive (unless it is raining)

Just chasing and carrying my toddler has made a big difference for me. I've lost 40 pounds since I had him (I've been eating healthier too). I hate formal exercise, so it's nice when there are ways to incorporate it into my regular activities.

I love earth shoes!!! (I've never been able to actually afford one - but they sounds fabulous) - Being a stay at home mom to a spirited toddler, I'm not always able to make time specifically for my exercise needs... BUT I do try to make it into something fun that my toddler can enjoy with me. We practice a series of yoga postures together (it is all about role playing fun for my child), and when I am in the kitchen cooking meals - I take time to do something similar to push ups on my counter tops. It also helps that we have 50+ stairs to climb between my car and my front door - so my once a week grocery shopping days double as a work out day as well! ;)

I park further away and take the stairs when I don't have super heavy armfuls I'm about to drop (like my 2 year old!)

I LOVE Earth Shoes - my friend introduced me to them and they are my new fave! As for exercise, chasing my 2-year old, carrying around my 7-month old, and walking up and down 2.5 flights of stairs to do 7 loads of laundry every week seems to do the trick to keep me fit :-)

Take the stairs! Walk home from campus! Bike to work!
Ooh, I love these boots!

I work out regularly so I don't do all that much to incorporate more exercise. I do always take the stairs if I'm only going up one level, and I'll usually walk up escalators.

I adore Earth Shoes, my mom introduced them to me and they are now my fave, I must have gotten at least a dozen of my friends to try them!

To answer your question, I incorporate fitness into my schedule by being a better mommy to me very energetic three year old daughter, Carina.

Every night we go to the playground for two hours, in that time period I do not sit, instead, I play tag, chase, and race on the equipment.

I have lost all but 6 pounds of my "baby weight" but more importantly, I have so many awesome memories with my daughter! Last night she told me she will always remember playing with me FOREVER! That is so much better than being the bench mommy!

Transforming my shoe closet into all Earth shoes eventually. Love them.

I use a standing work station rather than sitting at a desk and I exercise every morning with my daughters so we keep each other accountable. It's been great!

I walk my puppy every day when I get home. It's good for me AND her! On rainy days, I run around the house and let her chase me. On days when I am lazy, we go into the backyard and I throw the ball for her.
I try to get out and play with my two (very active) boys as much as possible (these days it hasn't been as often as I'd like but I try!!)

My motto is: "Life is my workout". Practically speaking, this means I scrub my tubs vigorously, take two steps up the stairs at a time (when I can), walk the kids to school, and I try to walk the dogs more. And on a good day I stretch and do floor exercises when I watch television.

Thanks for the contest--I love earth shoes!

When I do laundry I keep my abs in and use them as leverage instead of my back, when standing and bending down to put the clothes in the dryer.

I try to do small things every day to help incorporate exercise into my daily life. I park farther away from the door at the grocery store, take stairs instead of an elevator or escalator, run around in the yard with my two kids, and walk my dog nightly.
I use the stairs - whenever I go somewhere and it's a couple of floors up... I try to use the stairs.
wizardewu said…
I always walk up and down the four flights of stairs to my office instead of taking the elevator. When I have to go see someone on another floor, I also take the stairs.

I walk my son to the bus stop everyday instead of driving down the street to get there. We also park away from enterances as much as possible and walk. I try to incorporate a dance time everyday with the kids because they love to dance. Just a few things we do to keep active through out the day.

Soo cute! I do calf raises at the dink while I clean the dishes. I park my car away from the door or on the opposite side of the mall when shopping. I scrub my floors by hand and I mow the lawn with a push mower not with it's automatic mow option. Not to mention at the park, my boys and I play a game of chase on the equipment. I'm always looking for a new way to sneak in some exercise.

I've been taking the stairs more at work instead of the elevator. Once I bought a Gruve http://tinyurl.com/23jvaer , it kept buzzing me if I was too inactive so this was my way to get in extra steps while working a desk job.

LOVE these boots and Earth Footwear in general. Crossing fingers!!

@ShawneeH
I do calf raises while I'm on the phone and sometimes I wear ankle weight under my jeans and do leg lifts under my desk at work.

I always try to park in the furthest spot in the parking lot.

I also make a point to get up and clean something in my house during commercial breaks when we watch tv. It gets my bootie off the couch. :)
I get my work out from doing simple stuff like playing with Moo, sweeping instead of using the vacuum and walking at the mall.

I bought a half-dome and leg strap and put them in my man-purse so I can always give my tight hammies some attention throughout the day. Plus, I bike around my city more often than take my car. It's good exercise and a great way not to miss the beautiful scenery and people along the way.

I know I'm the first guy to comment on those CUTE booties, but maybe if I get chosen, you can upgrade them to a man's boot, or shoe.

If where I need to go is less than a mile away, I take my daughter's Razor Scooter. That thing REALLY works out your thighs and cuts travel time in half. I lost 10 pounds this summer just by doing that, much to my daughter's chagrin, lol.

I try to get to yoga once or twice a week and make an effort to walk over to my coworkers desks to ask questions instead of calling on the phone. Also, I get off the bus a stop or two early when the weather is decent and enjoy the extra walk! My Earth Shoes are at least 3 years old and pretty darn worn out, so a new pair would be heaven!!!

When I worked outside the home, I always walked on my lunch break. Fortunately for me, my gym was only 4 blocks away so I could go on the treadmill and do a little lifting too. Now that I work at home, we invent errands to do and I take my daughter for a stroller -- go to the corner store to get milk, walk 10 blocks to make a deposit, walk 40 minutes to go to the post office. Walking with purpose helps me get moving.

LOVE THE BOOTS!

Girl, you've got me eyeing those boots like they BELONG on my feet...lol

One of things my husband and I have been trying to do is go straight to the park after we take our daughter to the bus in the morning so we can walk/jog around the track a couple of times. We don't go as often as we should (usually because of MY lazy butt), but we're working on it. You inspire me, woman!

I choose to walk to my work place after I get off the train, it's a mile and always walk to and from. Even in winter time I still walk, I live in Chicago and it gets pretty brutal out here, but its so worth it, not just for my health but my eyes! (I get to cross the Chicago river). On days when I don't walk, I feel incomplete.

I also wake up early for yoga and do this 4-5 times a week and always take the stairs :)

those boots are cute! Earth shoes are great

Ah! What a cool giveaway. They look awesome. And something kind of big has happened in our house in terms of exercise. My almost 8 year old son, who is a total athlete, has decided he wants to start jogging (well, really he wants to run at top speed, but he slows down eventually). So we have started doing C25K together. Not that he's training for a 5K at 8 years old, but those early intervals - jog a minute, walk two - are perfect for the two of us to go out and do together.

And? He tells me about his day during the walks.

Love. It.

I used to have a pair of vintage Earth shoes back in college, and loved how comfy they were.

Here's one thing I do: run around with my son every day. We go outside and I chase him or he chases me. It's a surprisingly good workout. Oh, and I go up and down the stairs in the house all day long, cleaning and carrying stuff.

Love the boots.
