Boo at the Zoo!

On Sunday Mekhi took his first carousel ride at Zoo Atlanta. We were attending the annual Boo at the Zoo! celebration and he had a wonderful time. During the event there are six "trick or treat" stations set up in the park. I really like this idea because it keeps the amount of candy collected to a minimum and because there are animals to distract my son I was able to get away with taking most of his candy without much protest from him.
We saw this beautiful tiger come down to take a drink and I had to catch a quick snapshot. It seemed like our timing was perfect for everything, most of the animals made an appearance shortly after we arrived at each exhibit. And as any zoo going person knows it is sometimes difficult to see the animals on your time schedule!
This is the baby panda and she is so adorable. I cannot remember her name and she is not that small but she recently celebrated her first birthday. It is amazing how quickly these animals grow.
One of my personal favorite animals is the gorilla and this silverback male hung around with a crew of three other bachelors. It looks like he posed for his close-up doesn't it?

Our day at the zoo was packed with animal sightings, candy stations, friends and lunch. The weather cooperated and it was almost warm enough to be considered Indian summer. Although Mekhi was unwilling to wear his dinosaur costume, he was on the lookout for dinosaurs in the zoo. I guess it will take awhile before he understands that they are now extinct! In the meantime we will be checking out the dinosaur show at the theater for puppetry arts to satiate his desire to see dinosaurs!

I have never once seen a tiger or a lion awake at the zoo. That is a phenomenal sighting!

Mekhi is such a cute little boy now! Where did the baby go?

I love trips to the zoo. Looks like you guys were really lucky that day. Pandas are notoriously lazy and are always sleeping...

Oh the zoo is so much fun. I am glad you had a great time. And if you guys ever find the dinos you let me know. Ryder looks for them too. LOL

Love the pictures of the animals. But I especially loved the picture of your little man. What a handsome boy!
What a FUN concept!!! I love the idea of doing a "Halloween" activity in an educational setting!

I'm glad you guys had a good time and the weather was nice. That picture of the tiger is absolutely wonderful. It's amazing how powerful he looks even in a still shot. The panda is adorable, but not as cute as your little man. It's funny how you call the silver back. He is definitely posing. :)

I love the idea of the trick or treat stations...that's great! I always enjoy seeing the pandas and gorillas at the zoo, so it was super fun to see them both in one post. Very cute photos!

I think I'm stunned that you've got such good zoo pics. Every time I go to our zoo the animals aren't doing anything. Now, that gorilla in your post makes me laugh. That expression is hysterical! lol

Looks like FUN!!!! I used to LOVE going to the zoo... in our hometown we had a nice one; now we don't have one anywhere around us so our kids have NEVER been. I need to try to remember to take them next time we go visit my mom!

Thanks for sharing - your son is SO cute :)

Oh... I just love him to pieces. I also love you to pieces for grabbing the candy while he wasn't looking :)
A mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do!

What a fun day at the zoo! I wish our zoo had some of those animals, ours is pretty small. But those are fantastic photos of them too!
happy WW!

You captured some keeper photos of the animals. Sometimes it's hard to get them to "pose" for you. We took our youngest daughter to the zoo this summer for the first time. And she loved the carousel, too!

I found you at My cup to yours. Hi, I'm Kellie from Women's Life Link. You have a beautiful family!

Mekhi looks like he was enjoying that carousel zoo ride! Reading your post and looking at the pics reminded me I need to plan a visit. My oldest used to attend the zoo classes when he was younger, need to place my Prince, the 8 yr old, in a few of those now. The oldest had the best time learning about animals, petting the small ones (fox, rabbit, turtle, etc.) and helping with the feeding. It was a great way to learn thru play.

Whew, I almost created a post in your comments section LOL

Happy WW!

Love the panda pic:-) My son refuses to ride on the horse on the carousel--he likes to sit on the benches!

Renee,

You were the second person to figure out today's Wordle. Good job. Now there are others who want to play so I might delay announcing the Wordle winners until Friday's post, I'll see.
