PlayDoh? Oh no!

So there has been tons of talk about the swag at BlogHer09. Swag that was coveted (thank you Kodak for the video camera) and swag that women (and babies!) were almost trampled trying to get ( if you really NEED a vibrator that much people how about buying your own?). At one of the best parties I went to hosted by Lolita and sponsored by Whrrl and Baskin Robbins my girls StyleMom and VeepVeep coined the term SwagHags. Apparently great minds think alike because Lindsey of Suburban Turmoil (gorgeous lady) wrote an entire post about being a SwagHag.

The best swag in my opinion was the bagful of stuff for my son. During my tour of the expo room I picked up some PlayDoh for him. Initially I was hesitant but decided to bring some home. I remember my love for PlayDoh as a child - the smell alone is enough to make me smile. Did you know they have a perfume?

Although I thought Mekhi might be a bit young for PlayDoh, the packaging says it is appropriate for ages 2+ so I thought I'd pick some up for him and see if he enjoyed it. Well, let me tell you, Mekhi loves the stuff.

So much so that he decided to taste it. Yes, he ate it. I suppose the smell of the stuff must have been irresitable or something. At some point(that I am unable to identify because I was sitting right next to him) he decided to try this delectable confection (I am assuming this is what he was thinking) and I don't know what made me ask him if he ate the clay but when he answered affirmatively I had to see the evidence. And here it is for all to see.

I guess that means I won't be winning a "parent of the year" award anytime soon but since the stuff is non-toxic I continue to let him play with it. He enjoys it so much that I can't deny him fun because he ingested just a little. I have been watching him like a hawk since the incident and I think he has learned that PlayDoh just doesn't taste as good as it smells!

Nah, It's a right of passage for parent AND child and PlayDoh consumption. You're on the right path, in case you EVER doubted! :)

FYI, PlayDoh gets EVERYWHERE. I made my boys play with it on the lanai because I was tired of finding it ground into the carpet. :(

Miss you mucho! xoxo

Nearly every kid eats Play Doh at some point. I suspect mostly when they have the sets that form it into food. You can make McD's food in PlayDoh form. I don't know how kids DON'T eat it.

Thanks for the party kudos too! So glad you were there...
He is adorable!!!! I'm thrilled that you took the play-doh home just so I could see these photos! LOL

Beautiful blog, btw. I love the color scheme.

Play-doh consumption is highly recommended by the surgeon general-or so you'd think considering how many of us grew up on the stuff! You must also let it get hard and then throw it at someone to test your gross motor skills functionality! Too funny, I love the pics, Mekhi is such a ham!

Just don't let him combine it with water for Play-Doh "soup." Trust me on this.

(Enjoyed hearing you @ your panel!)

What a cute post. However, I'm not finding it cute, that today we are picking up dried green play-doh all over the living room. And while I didn't my 2YO eat that, she bit into some Styrofoam like it was a graham cracker this morning. The joys...

Enjoy your swag.

Yeah, I'd say you're a GREAT mom who has joined the ranks of other GREAT moms whose children have ingested Play-Doh. :)

It happens. Now when you come home and catch your son sucking on a marker, then we can talk...LOL.
It's not a big deal he ate play-doh AT ALL and it absolutely does not have any influence over what kind of mom you are! I totally ate play-doh a couple times when I was little, I remember ;) LOL

Does the colognes smell like it? Can you believe I only buy one color at a time because I hate when two colors clump together and make that ugly grey mess!

You haven't truly played with Play-Doh until you've eaten it.

Can you believe that out of 4 kids, not one child has tasted the play-doh? I HAVE, however, found strange brightly colored balls in my food when I am eating. They all want to be a chef but guess who is pegged as a guinea pig!
Omg - how damn cute is he with the blue tongue!!! kids seem to always eat play doh at least once..lol

xoxoxo

Oh yuck! I guess you and I get the same award 'cause Anna used to eat crayons on a regular basis. No matter how many times I put them up high, admonished her siblings for letting her take them from them and raised my voice... she still managed to find a stray crayon and chomp on it. Needless to say I'm glad she's outta that stage. Now, if I could just get her to color with them instead of use them as balls.
"PlayDoh just doesn't taste as good as it smells" - ain't that the truth? Ahh.memories. He's too cute!
