Spending Time With (Thomas and) Friends

I count myself lucky because my best friend Calinda lives in Atlanta now. We both waited until we were older than average to have children and our boys are only 10 months apart. The boys have hit it off like gangbusters and they are "best" friends too. On Saturday we all went to the historic Fox Theater to see Thomas(the Train) and Friends Live: A Circus Comes to Town* courtesy of Mom Select. I choose to attend the 10:30 am show to avoid conflicts with nap time (this always helps to avoid meltdowns). When we met at the theater the boys both seemed slightly moody, I could not get them to smile for the camera but here they are holding hands.

When we entered the theater the boys could tell something special was going to happen. When after what seemed like hours to them (I am sure) the trains made an appearance. They really seemed to enjoy the show, Thomas is Cinque's favorite and he quietly took in everything that happened on stage. Mekhi enjoyed identifying trains, helicopters and the clown that made an appearance. This was after all Thomas and Friends at the circus. The show was ninety minutes and the boys made it all the way through. They were a little restless during intermission and toward the end but the finale captured their attention.

Overall it was a very nice morning. Mekhi fell asleep in the car and I can only imagine him dreaming of his morning excursion. Thanks again to Maria Bailey and Mom Select for a lovely Saturday adventure.

:) I think it's so cute when kids become friends so early....and the hand holding just comes so naturally to them. I wish they always stayed that innocent and loving. Glad to hear you had a good time.
aww, i'm sure they LOVED it! I wished the show came to LA, but it didn't. my son would have FLIPPED (he LOVES Thomas and Percy and James and Henry and all of them!)

glad you guys had fun!

What a great outing! I have contemplated taking Sophie to something like that but I have very little confidence that she would sit still for 90 minutes.

How cute are those two holding hands!!

I never thought about the dreams, but you're right. I guess it's not only a memory but a dream as well.

It's so nice that your best friend lives in Atlanta now, the boys will be lifetime friends :)

What a fun time. I did not know they had a show.
Aw, that is so sweet!! I was the first of all my friends to have a child and most of them still don't have children. That is so nice when a friendship goes to the level of having children around the same time and great that your boys are such good friends!!

It looks like it was a blast! I think Piera, my bestest bloggy bud from Jolly Mom, went too!

BTW.. I saw that you are a speaker at the Type-A Mom Conference in Aville! That's where I live.. and have lived all my life! Maybe I'll see you there if I can come up with $100 among all of these horrible state budget cuts!
You may have the cutest boys ever. Seriously adorable.
This looks like it was so much fun. Thomas was my favorite book growing up.

My boys LOVE Thomas and Friends! Just when I think my 7 yr old is about to grow out of it he'll start building a track to play with all his trains!

I just showed the blog posting (the pics really) to Cinque this morning. So cute! He went completely bonkers. "Look mommy! That's me and my friend. That's me and Mekhi." He was convinced that he'd discovered something new!
