Shock - Michael Jackson

I watched the news come in of Michael's cardiac arrest on one of my message boards. And then the information continued to roll in. He was not breathing when the paramedics arrived, he is in a coma, TMZ reported death, I refused to believe it unless it came from a reputable source. I went to twitter and checked in constantly with CNN and finally my fear was confirmed. The King of Pop met his demise. This news surprisingly rocked my world. Unexpected tears rolled down my face. Perhaps part of it had to do with some other bad news that I recieved earlier or maybe it was just 3 deaths of icons in one week- Michael, Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett Majors. All I know is that tears flowed and I tweeted and updated my facebook status with countless fans.

I sit here thinking about what an instrumental part in my life Michael's music has played in my life. His music has never been far away. I remember the Jackson 5 cartoon, Michael's decision to go solo and of course the groundbreaking Thriller. I still have the album from 1983. I danced to his songs in highshool, mocked a friend that burst into tears when he visited her Kingdom Hall. Sat starstruck while eating at a cafe in South Africa as I watched MJ approach and walk within touching distance of me. He wore a mask and his features were so feminine it took a moment for my mind to process that not only wasn't I looking at a woman but it was indeed the King Of Pop in the flesh. I think my heart skipped a beat. Another unbelievable event because I am always cool as a clam in the midst of celebrities but this was MICHAEL JACKSON.

One of my favorite songs is Butterflies. But who can forget Man in the Mirror? So many memories and a death that came way to soon. I pray for the family and mourn with the rest of the fans around the world. Michael Jackson you will be missed.

Not one for celebrity following too but this was the Michael Jackson. So many memories and it was the 1st time I cried over a celebrity death. It is one of the only singers my (late) mom and I had in common and it was the first CD I ever owned.

my infatuation with him began young :) I fell in love with him as a young girl--secretly hiding his buttons in my pockets just to stare at him--hahahahahaa..he was the bomb.

I too posted about how I felt about it all--I started to cry as well, it just is such a tragedy that some ppl choose to focus on the small part of his fabulous life when he was less than our "hero" or "legend" and he was just a man--just a human who may or may not have made a mistake.

I rock out to his music all the time--everyday--and I am really really happy that I have so many memories of dancing to his music--an even better story and memory of seeing him for a brief moment once at Universal Studios {I'm posting a vlog tmrw} and he left us LOTS of MUSIC to enjoy forever :)
He will be missed, that is for sure. Thank you for posting this :)

I know. He will surely be missed. I don't think it has quite hit me yet. I think subconsciously I'm denying that it's true even though I know it is. Hopefully, now he can be at peace since the last few years were so rough for him.

I felt the same way. I just started crying...didn't know if it was the day's culmination of events and the dying of three stars....but it's touched me. I am saddened today. I said that I feel as if our childhood is disappearing.
I hope that you have a happy Friday and weekend.
Michael has earned his rest and he has left us with such a strong legacy.

This was a nice post. I think every person can look back on their life and find MJ in there somewhere. I too shed tears, of total unbelief and sadness for the loss of a phenomenal life... In real life, my own father's name is Michael Jackson. What fun I had in elementary school, in telling my classmates that Micahael Jackson was my father! Hilariously good times!

Although I know that death is inevitable, it is still hard to deal with when icons of our generation meet their end. I grew up on MJ and it was hard to comprehend that he's really gone.

It's kind of surreal whenever anyone dies. There is no doubt that he was talented and I wonder if we will ever find out how he really felt about all of his fame and fortune and if he felt all of it was worthwhile...

My best, Lynn
My heart is very heavy. r.i.p. Michael Jackson
