EA Sports Active Here I Come - Planes, Trains and Automobiles

I am on my way to Santa Barbara to kick off the EA SPORTS Active 30 Day Challenge with Jennifer of The Mom Bloggers Club, Monica of Mommy Brain Reports, Jessica of Jessica Knows and Donny of Daddy Claxton. I know we are going to have a wonderful time but getting to Santa Barbara has been a challenge.

I wish I had packed my camcorder to document my journey but I decided to leave it home. I will receive one when I arrive in Santa Barbara to track my progress during the Challenge and did not want to pack unnecessary baggage. But it is 8 pm EST, I still have not arrived and the footage of my trip would have been excellent. I have been traveling since 9:30 this morning. Yup, it has been a comedy of errors all day. Due to mechanical problems my flight that was scheduled to leave at 11:00 was delayed for about an hour and after it was “fixed” the problem showed up again. After another 45 minutes we were cleared to fly. As luck would have it as we taxied to the runway the Captain came over the PA system to announce that the Atlanta airport was shut down because of the weather. He kindly gave uys access to tv, games and we had snacks so it wasn’t an unpleasant experience. When we were cleared to fly and ten minutes later the airport was closed again. Luckily, this time they let our plane fly. The flight itself was pretty uneventful, there were a few pockets of turbulence but that type of thing does not bother me.

When I arrived at LAX I had to wait in line for the gate agent to find out my next steps. Because of course, I missed my flight connection. Well, low and behold I am now on a bus. Yes, you read that correctly, I am on a bus. I am living my own personal version of the movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Thank God I do not have a train involved. I should be in Santa Barbara in about an hour and change but of course this bus does not go to the Four Seasons. I suppose most visitors there do not travel by bus! I am remain light hearted about the whole situation by tweeting my experience. And I have been comfortable so there is no need to stress about things that I have no control over.

I will just continue to glance to my left and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. It has been a long time since I have seen her and I can enjoy her in all of her glory while traveling along the coast of California. These are truly happy times and really I have nothing to complain about. I am here safe and sound and will enjoy a great weekend despite the hiccup in my travel.

…..to be continued

ETA: I have arrived at the hotel it is stunning, the food has been great and photos to follow. A funny side note: there is a train that goes by the hotel, so a train is involved after all!

Have a fantastic time and I can't wait to hear all about it! For some reason, even though you wrote LAX, I read "Laguardia" and couldn't believe that you had to take a bus all the way from NYC to Santa Barbara! I may need to take a remedial reading class.
Wow! What an experience but like you said what is the use of complaining over something you can't control and I'm glad you were able to be comfortable through out the entire trip. Enjoy! I can't wait to hear more about this 30 day challenge.
