Toddler Energy

Mekhi is a runner. At 20 months he loves to to race around the house, a ball of wild energy. I have often mused that if I were able to bottle the energy of a toddler I would be a billionaire. Can you imagine the sales? Anyhow, my son rarely takes a rest. Getting him to nap lately has been quite difficult. This has resulted in cranky outbursts and lots of crying. And of course there is this.
His boundless energy and lack of sleep finally got the best of him at dinner time. I am hopeful that he will get back to his regular napping schedule. I am sure he will start looking forward to naps once he realizes that he wakes up with even more energy. Great for him - say prayers for me!

aww, look how peaceful he looks!! I know all about the non-napper except mine can't walk or run yet! He is so cute and that's great you were able to snap a photo if him napping :)

such an adorable pic!!!

My 2 yr old, on some days doesn't want to nap either & well nap time is my fav time of the day.
This is what I do, I tell him it's quiet time.
I put him in his crib, give him a "friend" & a book & leave him. He is usually out in less than 10 mins.

Try that.
Hopefully it will help...those little guys need their energy!

Oh funny! One of my nephews used to do this. He would eat himself stupid, and fall asleep sitting up in his high chair.

I have a pic of my now 8 year old, bent over the armrest of the lazyboy, his butt in the air, face in the seat, asleep. They fight it hard, but it eventually overtakes them. :)

I used to have to physically hold my oldest son still until he fell asleep when he was around 2 years old. Other wise he wouldn't nap and it was awful around 4pm!
I hope he gets his nap time and you get your mommy time soon!

Oh how I miss nap time!

Awww what an adorable picture- I remember my oldest on passing out in his highchair like that. I never learned what regular naps were like until I had son #2 (with #1 it was hopeless and he didn't start regularly napping until he was almost 2) but I'm sure you'll figure it out soon enough.

I'd be a lot more productive if I had the energy of a toddler!

Cute picture!

Awwwww, that brings back so many memories. Boys have so much energy. He's such a handsome little guy too.

He's so sweet. It's hard to get them to stop though, especially at that age. My son actually fell asleep face down on the floor the other day, while I wasn't looking. Those naps are vital!

My 2 year old fights naps too, and boy does he play hard. Doesn't want to miss a minute.

Your little guy is so precious. Funny how much they fight and then finally give in to the sleep.

Adorable, Renee, although, we know that God made kids cute in self-defense... LOL and my munchkin is the same ~ he's got two speeds: sleep and RUN! And sleep comes after much loud and vigorous fussing... Good luck to us both!

I think we have a pic just like that one with my non-napping now almost 3yr. old. Where do they get all that energy?!?! Very cute picture!

I wish my 20 month old twin guys would do that!
My daughter's new favorite thing is to run around the house shouting "wonning, wonning." I wish I could keep up with her.

I think I need nap time more than her somedays, I hope you get "your" nap time back soon too!

My husband and I love it when they are fighting the sleepy eyes and we have to pretend not to see it so that it will happen. Nothing funnier than seeing a bobbing and weaving toddler in your peripheral vision and trying your hardest not to spray mashed potatoes out of your face while holding in the laughter.
Great picture for the archives of his life!

My best, Lynn

My kiddos battle the nap! They need them...it just isn't easy:P
and of course there's the "he looks uncomfortable, I should move him to his bed" moment. Of course, when you try he wakes up and starts getting busy all over again. I remember that stage.

Can you help me with the "I'm very slow at doing my algebra stage"(12 yr) or the "Can I ask you a question every 10 min"(7 yr) phase.

Too cute! I am so loving that Jackson now tells me when he needs a nap or is ready to go to bed! He looks at me and says "I nigh-night" and I put him right in the bed! Love it!

I love the cheek resting on his hand pose...awww :-)

Cute! Be glad you have a napper. Neither one of mine have ever napped. My youngest one is 2 1/2 and has yet to sleep all night...I'm running on fumes.
Toddler's are exhausting but so much fun.

Aw, little sweetie. My daughter asleep sitting in her chair playing at the computer last night. It must be nice to just go to sleep wherever they are simply because they're that tired.

lol, love that, so cute. I'm not sure how old he is, but Colin quit napping at about 2 1/2, and then would fall asleep at the dinner table a few times a week. Seems like he hates to miss anything by sleeping... meanwhile I'm dying for a nap!

And yet he still has energy to hold his head up! Good luck!
