Apparently I Live With Royalty

I know what you are probably thinking, my husband is the King of our castle and I am the beloved Queen. I suppose that would be true if we were living in a fairytale but my Queenly crown has been missing in action for almost two years.

I think it may have something to do with this:

Or perhaps this:

And well, this:

My son is the Prince and I am his sole minion. The King (Dad) will never be ruled by the little Prince. I on the other hand am at his beck and call.

Dinnertime: Would you like green peas?
Prince Mekhi: NO!
Minion: Would you like burgers?
Prince Mekhi: NO!
Minion: Would you like grapes?
Prince Mekhi: NO!

And so it goes, a full litany of food choices until the Prince settles on the old standby: yogurt (it is just not a Princely day without yogurt).

Of course, I am the chambermaid too. There is no one in this castle that can change a poopy diaper or pull-up faster than me. As a matter of fact, chambermaid is one of my chief duties (no pun intended) around here. I change 9 out of 10 diapers!

Finally, I am the royal dresser. No Prince could live without one. And dressing the Prince takes careful planning. As soon as one article of clothing comes off he dashes down the hall to the relative safety of (King) Dad’s office. Yes, he gets sent back but dressing a Prince takes no less that 15 minutes. Every single day!

Aaaah, the life of a Prince. I just hope he remembers these days when I am old and decrepit and our roles are reversed!

That last sentence is so true. I always tell my husband "Be careful how we treat the kids now, cause our future is in their hands".

Your prince is so cute. I tell people that sometimes it's like I have 2 very short and demanding little bosses- they don't believe in breaks or in raises of any sort. But I love them more every day even if they are tyrants. :)
I look at it as payment toward my days when I'll need someone to pull up the blanket for me. LOL!

Ha ha...so cute and funny. My little boy loves yogurt too.

I'm sure your Prince will treat his mommy like a Queen when he gets older!

I am so with you. It is a shame that they don't remember these days and all our hard work. Of course, the good news is they don't remember all the stupid stuff we do either. So I guess it balances out.

If he is the prince that makes you the Queen!

I think that I'll get some of those utensils to use at work. People will treat me much differently if they knew I were royalty.

Oh, so cute. The last year was like that for us. I think all my kid ate for six months was chicken nuggets and milk. Or anything with ketchup on it. It has all changed now, though - he demands vegetables, and will eat anything we are eating.

Seriously, will they remember? Because all these years as the chief chambermaid and lady in waiting are going to take their toll.

lol @ the image of him dashing down the hall while being undressed. little ones love that freedom of being naked or near naked any chance they get! (heck, so do i, lol!)

such cute and funny commentary. but yes, you are still the queen. rather than sitting your throne, though, you've been on active queen duty to ensure that the prince is growing and healthy. then, once he's older, he can be at *your* every beck and call!

I too have been feeling like a servant to my son. It's amazing how well he is treated. And I've got to tell you, I am a little jealous.

Love it! We're so on the same page ... there's a coup going on at my house right now with my son - smiles!

He'll remember when the time comes and he'll get his wife to take care of you, too! LOL.

Do your "Thang" Little Prince.
Hah--I think we are on the same food groups: yogurt and grapes. Though sometimes he switches it up and eats a grilled cheese. They are little princes aren't they?
LOL the conversations about dinner is so true. my 3 yr old has turned into some kind of picky eater who only likes ice cream, or things that taste like it (yogurt, certain fruit, milk shakes). and sometimes, he doesn't eat dinner at all. i've just sort of given up. he will eat when he wants, but he will still have to eat whatever i make for him. i'm not resorting to feeding him ice cream 3 times a day.
