Word(less)Ful Wednesday - Queen of the Road

I am an avid reader and when the opportunity to review Queen of the Road was presented to me I could not resist. This book by Doreen Orion is about a Diva from the Island of Long (Long Island, NY - where I was born and raised) who is a self-proclaimed couch potato more comfortable in Prada than in the throes of domesticity. Imagine her chagrin when her husband Tim suggested traveling across country in a converted bus!

The story is the tale of their cross-country adventures in a 340 square foot bus (that of course has all of the comforts of home) with a dog and two cats! Doreen eases the pain of the journey with a healthy dose of alcohol - each chapter begins with a drink recipe named for the adventures at hand and over time Doreen appreciates the simplicity of life on the road.
Over time she learned more about her husband, developed an appreciation for the history of the locales they traveled and realized the life is more than just material things. For an entertaining, funny and educational read, I suggest Queen of the Road.

I know this is more than you bargained for on Word(less)ful Wednesday but I had to share this gem of a book with you. As a bonus - everyone that comments on this post will be entered into a grand prize drawing of divaliciousness worth over $130.00(winner will be drawn from entries on all blogs in this tour)!

Having traveled via cramped car across this great nation of ours for most of my childhood. A book about something similar wouldn't have naturally appealed to me. However, that was a wonderful review and as an adult I too have discovered a good drink can be a little therapeutic. Thank you for the recommendation. BTW gorgeous website!

The book sounds great! I'm adding it to my reading list (which is growing faster than I can keep up). The giveaway is super fabulous! What a great package. I think I would keep some and give some as gifts! I'd rather NOT have a calorie counter, but think it would do me some good. Especially if it smacks my hand when I reach for a chocolate covered oreo......

Wow! That was a wordful ;-) Sounds like a great book...I'll have to check that one out after I read the five books sitting on my bookshelf (my holding spot).

I did just get a chance to finish reading A Map of the World (which I couldn't put down--not even poopy diapers made me drop that book) I was even up until 1am a few nights and my husband had to literally turn the lights out on me and make me go to sleep. That was a good book!

Well...I love the stuff you are giving away and I love a giveaway!

Thanks for stopping by our site too!
