A Moment

Play the music. It will relax you while reading this post.

“Moments in Love” by The Art of Noise has always relaxed me. Earlier this year I was an avid spinner and this song was used for our mountain rides. Despite the difficulty of the ride, this song kept me relaxed and focused. Not familiar with spinning? It is indoor cycling. You control the tension on the bike and can release or tighten it to simulate the feeling of riding on different types of terrain. The entire time you control your ride, determining the amount of tension that is appropriate for you. Keeping your cadence by listening to the music and imagining the ride.

Like cycling up a mountain. By adding tension you feel the heaviness associated with riding up a mountain. Slowing increasing it until you finally feel as if you’ve reached a breaking point. At the summit the song changes and you release the tension. Success! Extremely challenging but exhilarating.

I no longer spin. I had a brief medical issue and lost my rhythm, visiting the gym was no longer a priority. The “cadence” of my life changed. I miss spinning and one may say I could start again but I haven’t found the rhythm that enables me to incorporate it into my life again.

The rhythm of the everyday is what keeps me going. How much can I squeeze in without losing something? Time with my family, time writing, visiting blogs, meeting with friends in real life and twitter, can’t forget twitter.

The rhythm.

My rhythm is off. Maybe, as a Sheena tweeted last night, “I bit off more than I can chew....” I have to get my rhythm back. I can’t lose it and still maintain all of the pieces of my life. As my friends I am asking that you bear with me. I have gotten behind. My home? A wreck. Blog visits? I really need to play catch up. My work? Don’t get me started.

I need my rhythm back.

I hope you understand that I may not get by to visit you in a timely manner. But I will get there and I will write. I will always write. I think I am experiencing growing pains.

Luckily I have “Moments of Love” to help me get my cadence back. Please be patient. I am riding at my own pace but I will reach that mountaintop.

You sure we aren't sisters?? :) I feel the exact same. Behind in work, behind in blog catchup (the 80 or so visitors from BATW contributed to that but I loved it!) and well, life. Sending hugs oh and LOVE that song. It's awesome!!!!

Oh and I HAVE heard this song before - I just never knew what it was called. I love it!
Now I know you will probably not believe this, but it's true. I was thinking about you tonight and hoping that everything was ok. I had noticed that you hadn't dropped on my site.

I know you don't HAVE to drop, I know the people's tastes change, etc, but I just noticed that you hadn't.

I like your analogy about how your rhythm is off. I think I can understand that.

I do understand if you don't visit. You have to figure out how you are going to live this life. As much as we all like you, you are only obligated to you and yours. Take a break, post some re-runs, even actors get time off.

Find your rhythm and you will be stronger. Marge

oh yes, I understand. My yoga practice has helped me balance myself and moreover my time better. Asteya or honesty, the 3rd yama. I've learned not to 'steal' time from rest, or other obligations. It wasn't and still isn't easy, but breathing helps. I look forward to seeing you at your balanced best.

Peace.

Tell me why I was just drafting a post where I mentioned that exact song. It was like you were reading my mind. I love Moments In Love. It's so relaxing. I have it on my mp3 player, and sometimes I'll put in my ear buds, put on this song, and just get lost in it. Yea, I sound lame right? :-)

I totally feel you on getting your rhythm back. My rhythm is off too and I feel like I really need to get it back in order. I'm just taking it one step at a time. You'll get back, don't worry. I have faith in you.

By the way, Jayden said "Wazzuuup!" :-)
Funny since the move I've felt a lot like this. And I just joined a gym and am enjoying the structure that is giving me...so everyone switches it on and off, eh?

I need to start backing away from the blog thing too... business is picking up and it's funny that it's so hard to do! (As I type here at midnight...)
I love how you word this. And, please take some time. Your positive attitude inspires me.

When you have time, I can't wait to tell you about my recent discovery with my search for volunteer work. I think I told you a bit, but will know more in a couple of weeks, which hopefully will be a great time for you to talk about it too. I am soooo excited.

Enjoy the ride!

Take your time and get your rhythm back! It's easy to take on too much sometimes, but half the battle is realizing it and doing something to get your rhythm back!

Life - a cycle

Well Renee... You and I are alike in ONE way! Though you are the social butterfly and I the quiet little mouse; you are the eloquent, well-spoken one and I the "hey, lookie!" one, we are alike in this way.
I think we both go head over heels passionately devoted to anything we take on. I have difficulty pulling in the reins and saying "Whoa, that's enough there, now I need to move on to this".
Walk a little bit slowly now and search for firm ground. You will reach that mountain top soon enough but now may be the time to slow down and regroup for the journey ahead. You'll probably find me there, sleeping under a tree!

Love Hobo's comment. ;)
Yes, life is a cycle and goes in seasons.
Remember, Renee, when I only posted once a month this summer, needing the time to just breathe and soak in the sunshine.
And you still faithfully supported me and visited.
Sometimes we just need time.
To get our rhythm back.
Well said.

Take all the time you need, just be sure to let us in on the secret of rhythm, I'm having similar issues myself. Great song, btw, it does have a calming effect.

Renee, take your time, we've all been there:)

I can also relate to this post. There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day and when you are off your rhythm, it seems like everything suffers. So take time for yourself Renee and recharge and we will all be here when you get back. :) Hugs.

I can relate. There's a lot going on here for me right now, but I'll get there...you'll get there. That's how life is--ebb & flow, balanced and then not-so-much, right?

This is a great post! I am always feeling like I am playing catch up..always behind..so much to do and tend to. But I have learned to give yourself grace. Sometimes we get in a rut or maybe we just need to breathe..but guess what? Its okay.

1st I have to say I love the little charecture (sp?) of you!!!

2nd, I hope your rhythm find it's way home. :)
My rhythm feels off too. It's been off for awhile, but I can't seem to find my footing again. I think that's OK though. There's something to finding a new rhythm or replacing it with another "song." It's healthy every now and then to lose your rhythm, b/c it encourages positive change!
Just like the song says, to every thing there is a season and a purpose. The rhythms of life change for various reasons. I believe we must allow this to happen gracefully with maybe a brief mourning period but then followed by joy at all the new prospects in the next season. Maybe there is no reason to try to get it all back but more a need to settle in to a comfortable new rhythm of life.

no problem mekishmom, just take your time. i know you'll get back soon ;)
I've recently found that finding my rhythm in blogging is harder than I thought. This balance thing takes some thinking. Good luck getting your rhythm back!

I need to put that song on my MP3 player for my workouts. I always liked it but didn't know what it was. I know it's cliche, but rhythm is a funny thing, sometimes you find it when you least expect it.

Thanks for making the time to visit New Zealand on the BATW tour. I'm sure that you'll get your rhythm back soon - loved this music but the thought of spinning gave me the chills. I've seen those people in the gym. I'm sure my head would explode with the effort!

Ciao Renee, what a beautiful site you have! I will be back when I have more time. Cheers!

I feel those "growing pains" too and know exactly how you feel. For me it's priorities. When those get mixed up everything gets out of whack. I'm working right now on correcting some. You'll know when you've got it right again :)
