A Pause For The Cause

I have a little secret. I am a Twilight Mom. You may be asking yourself what is that? Well let me explain. A Twilight Mom is a mother over 25 that is addicted to the young adult(read adolescent/teenage) Twilight book series written by Stephanie Meyer. The story line is about a teenage girl and her interaction with teenage vampires in her town. There is romance, betrayal, intrigue. In a word these books are amazing! So there you have it, the object of my addiction. I know it may seem far-fetched for a grown woman to be reading about vampires and teenagers but I am telling you these books are excellent.

I purchased Twilight on Mother's Day this year. I read it in a day and immediately went to the bookstore and purchased New Moon and Eclipse. My husband wanted me to wait until the following day but I COULD NOT WAIT. I had been captured by Stephanie's web and I could not get out. I finished the series on Thursday that week. Tiffany of the R family diaries calls Stephanie's Twilight Saga "crackliture". And she is right! On Friday night all across the nation book stores were holding parties to celebrate the release of book four Breaking Dawn, the final book in the series and the book went on sale at midnight.

I did not participate in a party because seriously, although I am an avid fan I have no desire to be in a room full of teenagers attending a prom (yes there was a prom- the book is set in high school), dressed like characters from the book and waiting in the inevitable lines to purchase the book. I did however reserve a book and I picked it up yesterday morning. I simply walked into my local Barnes and Nobles, purchased my book, a coffee and left sans drama. I am currently on page 286 of the book. I am trying not to rush through it. Instead I am savoring it like a fine wine. But I also know several other bloggers that are reading and since I don't want to be left behind when the discussions about Breaking Dawn start tomorrow, my top priority is to finish the book today.

So, I am pausing for the cause and will return to you tomorrow. Check out the series it really is a great read!

My wife is all into the Harry Potter books.
I can't wait for your thoughts. I've only read Twilight, but plan on reading the rest......

I was wondering what those books were all about b/c I saw the Barnes & Noble near me advertising that party. I'll have to check out those books--I don't care if they're for teenagers, I read the Harry Potter books (the last 2 on my own--not to either of my kids.)

I'm thinking about starting this series, just because of everything I've read about it. I was like that with the traveling pants series, and that's about as adolescent as they come!

I'm glad you explained. I'd heard about the books but didn't "get it." I did notice there's a movie coming out. You must be so excited!

Hi Renee. I travelled over here from Tammy's blog (she had a very intriguing entry about you so I just had to hit your link), but I've seen you on Amazing Grace's blog too.

I had to comment on this...my teen daughter is chomping at the bit for this book. She hasn't read them all, just the first. But she's hooked. I'm sure at some point I'll have to pick the rest up somewhere. Simply for the reason it holds her interest long enough to finish it. LOL

Glad I came over. You have a very interesting blog. Think I'll stay a while.

SERIOUSLY -- these books sound so good. But, I am a total freak when it comes to vampires. Do I know that they don't exist? Am I still scared to death of them? Yes. I can't even sleep by a window because I am scared a vampire will get me. Yes, I am a freak!
