I'm in love

Who: The Dark Knight
What: The Movie
Where: At a theatre near you
When: Date Night, Date Day, Vacay, whenever but if your kids are under 13 leave them home
How: By car, by train, by bus - get there any way that you can

This is a not a blog about pop culture but I would be remiss if I did not take time out to acknowledge my current love, the movie "The Dark Knight." My husband is a big fan of all super hero comic books that are adapted for the big screen and always sees them in the theater. I on the other hand enjoy action and adventure films in general but can wait for Netflix.

Not this time. Once I saw the commercial for the Dark Knight I knew I had to see it. And I am oh so glad that I did. This film was dark, foreboding, full of adventure and highly entertaining. Much like the original DC comic Batman. Heath Ledger (may he rest in peace) acted his azz off. As my husband said "he was no Jack Nicholson Joker." He took the Joker to a whole new level. I can now understand the rumblings that Heath Ledger may posthumously be nominated for an Oscar. He deserves one.

I am not going to give away any plot details or teasers because I personally hate for reviewers to do that. What I will say is to hold on to your seat for a rocky ride. This Batman is worth seeing even if you are not a fan. The film is two and a half hours long but as far as I am concerned it was over too soon (although I have to say holding my pee for two hours was not comfortable but was so worth it).

Go see The Dark Knight. What are you waiting for?

I SO want to see it. Just the previews alone got me hooked. I heard there's Oscar buzz about Heath Ledger too, which would be amazing.

Since the movie was sold out this weekend though, we saw "Wanted," which I also really enjoyed. (Movie tip!)

Hi,

Found your blog through Carrie's. You have the most beautiful smile!

My Hubby is also a fan of the comic book type films and I recently watched the last X-Men movie with him and actually liked it (well, I didn't fall asleep so that's saying something!)

Also, you Gone Missing Post is funny....and so true.

I've heard so much about this movie--I can't wait to see it. I'm not a huge fan of the Batman franchise, but I am so interested in this twisted Joker character (psych major--can you tell?) Glad you liked it...and btw--date night? And your son is how old? Lucky lady!

I love Heath Ledger. And I heard good things about his performance in this movie, but Oscar buzz? I wonder if it is because of his death or the actual performance. I say this without seeing the movie, so I have no idea. I have heard that the true Oscar buzz was going around about his next film, in which he died in the middle of filming. Regardless, I can't wait to see it! Great review!

I want to go see this movie so bad. However, we haven't decided if our daughter should see it or not. She's seen all the others and absolutely adores "Batman". She'll be leaving for her grandparents house, so I'm thinking it might be the perfect movie for mom and dad to have a date night!!
