Game day ready with Sriracha Hot Wings #sandersonfarms

Fall is finally here, the weather is cooling down (yay Atlanta, after 90 days of 90 degree heat, we are ready!) and it is that time of the year…..FOOTBALL!!! I am a native New Yorker and the old adage is true. You can take the girl out of New York but you can’t take the New York out of the girl! So when it comes to football, I am a fan of BIG BLUE! AKA the New York GIANTS!!!! I must admit that being a Giants fan here is something like being a fish out of water. Folks are busy screaming RISE UP! The tagline for the Falcons, however I have never drank that Kool-AID. Why would I? The Giants are Superbowl champions and the Falcons...have they ever won? Ahem. Moving on.
My love for the Giants has been incidentally adopted by the fine young man known as my son. We root for the team together when they play and he will proudly tell anyone who asks that he is a fan. As a matter of fact, we were walking into the gym the other day and a guy stopped us. I had taken of my Giants gear because I changed into workout gear but my son still had on his Giants t-shirt. The guy said “You can’t be in Atlanta with a New York shirt on!” My mama bear (and Giants fan) instincts stepped in and I replied “We are New Yorkers all day every day!” there was a bit of back and forth banter but there is no way I’ll ever be swayed from loving the Giants.
As I watch my Giants play, I enjoy a good snack or two and my favorite is the classic - Buffalo wings. I made some wings for the last game (I was quite disappointed but it is early in the season and a 2-1 record is good) and added a twist - I made Sriracha hot wings instead of using conventional hot sauce. In a word - DELICIOUS! I plan to keep this recipe in rotation and bring them to a tailgate and on my menu at home because hot wings truly are my favorite thing to eat! This is my recipe and I rarely measure anything so be sure to taste along the way to ensure you get the flavor you desire! And for more chicken recipes be sure to check out Sanderson Farms.
Sriracha Hot Wings
2 pounds of wingettes
¼ cup of Sriracha
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ stick butter
Salt
pepper
Method
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Clean chicken and pat dry. Season with salt and pepper. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, coat with non-stick spray. Place chicken on cookie sheet and place in oven. Cook for 40 minutes. While chicken is cooking, make the Sriracha sauce. Melt butter in the microwave in a small microwave safe bowl (aprox. 30 seconds). Remove from microwave add Sriracha and remaining seasonings. Stir. Remove chicken from oven and brush with sauce. Return to oven and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Enjoy!
