Operation Weight Loss - Week 5

I am doing a happy dance! I've lost a significant amount of weight over the past 5 weeks. How much? 17.3 pounds! You've read that right. I've lost 17.3 pounds since the week of Thanksgiving AND I've also lost 8.5 inches. I am actually amazed. This week I lost 6 pounds and it is funny because I was not hitting the exercise as hard as usual but I did manage to get it in. I stuck to my EA SPORTS Active workouts but I didn't do any add-ons. Just getting the exercise in was an accomplishment and I am thankful that although I missed some days I was able to make up workouts on my rest days.

My 6 week challenge with EA SPORTS Active More Workouts ends tomorrow but my love of fitness and exercising is not going to end. I actually think I will do another 6 weeks! In addition, I can't speak highly enough of my Jenny Craig consultants. They have all been very helpful, inspiring and encouraging. Having a weekly weigh-in has kept me accountable and I actually look forward to my meetings.

Here is my vlog about my progress this week:

So, I am looking forward to a New Year and a New Me. If you are interested in taking steps toward your health in the upcoming year, here are a few places you might want to check out.

The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans is starting a new challenge tomorrow,December 30th - Rethink Your Shrink! All of the details will be revealed tomorrow but from what I gather, this challenge is all about re-thinking health and weight loss. Sounds good and I know I am up for the challenge!

Mamavation will be supporting 2 moms on the journey to healthy living and have a boatload of prizes to help the moms along the way. I am part of this sisterhood too and I post encouraging tweets to other moms and pat myself on the back along the way too! Applications for the Mamavation moms are being accepted starting January 1 and you have until January 12 to enter. You can read all the details here. On January 21st the winners will be announced after a couple of weeks of voting and there are prizes to be won so come out for the party!

And can I just say one last time - 17.3 POUNDS and 8.5 INCHES! Do I sound excited? I truly am. I can't wait to see what the New Year has in store for me! And you too- are you trying to live healthier in the upcoming year? Let me know, I will be there to cheer you on!

Yep I've been on the exercise train these last few weeks harder than ever and I am going to start doing the Discovery Health fitness challenge this year again. They give you recipes and Gilad videos to work out to and great stuff. I also use the videos on exercisetv.com. they have quick ones that I use to break up my day. Renee you are looking really good and you seem to be glowing. All those endorphins right? ;o)

My best, Lynn
*swing on by, I am hosting a mega giveaway extravaganza this week!

Dooood, 17.3 freaking pounds!!! Holy Batshit! That's awesome! I'm a bit excited for you...can you tell? AND 8.5 inches. You know the inches are showing up already. What part of you do you think has shrunk the most? But, legs, waist? You should totally do what I do...weigh yourself naked and then dance on the scale! Rock it out girl!!

Oh Renee! That gorgeous smile of yours says it all! That is incredible and the best thing is that you lost weight safely and have learned to eat in moderation. I am so happy for you; you look great and I'm sure you feel great!
Happy New Year pal.

(and I love the little thought balloon. Did hubby add that in?)

Totally inspiring. My husband and I are going to try again as a team. It's always easier when we're both trying to eat smaller portions and get to the gym.

Bravo to you! That's freakin' exciting! 17 lbs is like losing a big bag of dog food!

OK. That made much more sense in my head. :0

Congrats, dear.
Girl I am so proud of you!!!!! You look so bright and beautiful!!!

That is the number that I will lose this year. I finally made up my mind to take off the extra 17 lbs I've been carrying for the last 4 years!. Wish me luck!

Holy moly! That is amazing and so inspiring... I can't wait to get started with the EA challenge, hopefully it will get here soon!

You look great and I can tell you feel great- glowing!
Try wearing wearable weights like “Body Togs” anatomically designed weighted sleeves worn on your arms & legs under your clothes. Put them on in the morning and you literally forget you have them on while increasing your calorie burn, muscle tone & bone density! Weighted vests work great too!

How exciting for you! I watch your inches and weight shrink, I'll watch mine go up. :) I tend to enjoy my baby cooking months...gives me a break from running.

I hope it continues to be as successful for you. Having an accountability party/partner is always helpful.

Happy new year!

I am so blown away by your dedication and your candid nature. I have been tossing around the idea of applying but GOSH thats a large number for me to share with the world lol! If I could just put FAT in the place of the three numbers then it would not be a problem but thats a tough thing to divulge. Its great for countability but not so much for my ego lol!! I even started a diary on my blog called Diary of A Fat Black Woman. I am working up the nerve to give the number. I am less now than I was 3 months ago but its still pretty high.
