Rest Day and a Giveaway

Giveaway Closed - Congratulations to Christy M

Today was a rest day for me using the EA SPORTS ACTIVE More Workouts. However, one of my goals is to get exercise in everyday, as little as 15 minutes can make a difference. I actually tried out a couple of different exercises today- I did Billy Blanks Jr.'s Cardioke. This 30 minute workout was a combination of dance moves, aerobics and karoke. Sounds strange right? But singing while working out helps with the stamina and this was a good low impact workout on my rest day. I also think it isi good for people are not used to exercising at all, he had a range of different ages and body types in the video. A great motivator.

I also did a brief Afro-Latin dance routine, I missed most of the show but I liked what I was able to do and it inspired me to do more. Finally I did a walking workout. In total it was 45 minutes of waking and sculpting. I skipped the sculpting and during that portion of the exercise I did laundry. Doing household chores also burns calories you know and since I hate laundry I do it very vigorously!

Laundry. The bane of my existance. And probably everyone else too. But like exercise it is a necessary evil. Lucky for me the one thing I don't have to worry about regarding laundry is buying detergent. My friends at Tide have ensured that I am stocked up and won't need to buy detergent for an entire year. And since it is the holidays and all, we thought that you'd like the gift of a year's worth of laundry too. The lucky winner will recieve a year's worth of coupons for Tide Coldwater.

All you have to do is tell me what tips you have to make doing laundry easier.

To make doing laundry easier, have a way to sort dirty clothes as soon as they need to be put in the "hamper" or laundry. For instance, put all colored clothing together and all whites together... in separate bins.

My tip is not to let all the laundry pile up for too long! When we do that it takes about 2 hours to do 3 months worth of laundry, and it's a pain! it's so much easier if we do it every week or so, since we can't do it daily.

Dancing always makes doing laundry easier. Yes, dancing. Since I'm like you and I detest doing laundry, I just look at it as a mini workout.
Bending and stretching and dancing a jig always makes work time much more fun (and productive).

I think everyone has the same idea. For me, I sort liked items: white, towels, uniforms, and darks. I pre-treat stains and soak those that need extra help. I wash every two days so I don't have a mountain of laundry to do. it works for me being single and I am just around the corner from the laundry room.

One thing I do to make laundry a little easier is not sorting the younger kids' socks. I put them all in a laundry basket and when they need them the two middle ones go and search them out. My son does this the best so normally he has the task of getting socks for the girls.

1. Purchase dryer sheets at the dollar store, seriously! I found Woolite sheets at the dollar tree so it really cuts down on the laundry budget.

2. IF you can get everyone to put their clothes where they belong, it helps keep you from having to go room to room for dirty laundry.

3. Did you know that used dryer sheets can clean your washing machine and dryer? I use them to wipe down my machines and get the goo, dirt off of them.

My tip is to do laundry at the same time/day. That way it will get to be one of those mindless chores that you don't even realize you're doing.

Oh - and if you care about saving money, DON"T do laundry every day - do it all at once. The most expensive part of laundry is heating up the dryer. If you do all your laundry at once, only the first load has to get heated up. Subsequent loads will already have the dryer heated up.

I make sure to turn everything inside out before I wash it. This helps keep colors brighter and to avoid snags from zippers, buttons, etc. It works great!

My tip is to have the kids throw their dirty clothes down the stairs to you so that you don't have to go up and down the stairs. They love it and it cuts down on the climbing of stairs!

I have 3 laundry baskets, 1 each for lights, darks and delicates. That way laundry is already sorted.
