Happy Birthday Dr. King!

Tears stream down my face as I write these words, I am completly overwhelmed. Today we celebrate the birthday of one of the most important leaders in history, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. And this is the eve of the inauguration of Barack Obama, our first African-American President. In celebration of this occasion I have posted the "I Have A Dream" speech in its entirety. Have a listen, and celebrate the life of Dr. King by participating in the National Day of Service. Today join millions of people that are celebrating this day by serving others.

Happy Birthday Dr. King, we have come full circle and I believe that your dream has been fulfilled.

I love this speech. Thanks for posting. It's hard not to get emotional thinking of the civil rights movement and the Inauguration.

I was just talking to my husband about this last night. I will admit that I have a different opinion on some issues than Mr. Obama. Beyond those differencesI am really excited to see his leadership and to see what he will do for our country. Nothing makes me happier than to know that our children will grow up in a country where everyone that has a dream can see it come true. Thanks for reminding us all of how great this country is and for the people who worked hard to get us here.

Thank for posting! I plan on revisiting your blog this morning once my 4 year old wakes up so that he may have a listen. He's getting to an age where he's discerning differences and trying to understand its impact on HIM, so this will go a long way in explaining. :) AND it gives me a chance to explain why I get today off work to be home with him! LOL

Renee - this speech always give me chills up & down my spine and brings wetness to my eyes. I still pains me that such a great man and leader was gunned down. the 60's man - wow - JFK, Bibbie Kennedy, the King, all shot for what they stood for.

Thanks for sharing this today. It's still a need-a-tissue-issue for me.

I shouted your post out on Twitter too.
