Fall Favorites
After a long hot summer, evenings here are brisk and refreshing. The sun goes to sleep earlier and soon we will rise in darkness. A season change is upon us. Fall and the heady oranges that define it always remind me of Halloween. Although I don't celebrate, now that I have a child it is clear that dressing up comes with the territory. Last year my mother was so excited about getting Mekhi a costume she purchased it in July or August.
From the day she gave me the costume until the week of Halloween she reminded me "take pictures, take pictures." Whenever she mentioned it I'd think "it is months away, please don't remind me again." But I would simply say, "of course." I believe her excitement stemmed from being a first time grandma, I can't imagine anyone else buying a costume as soon as stores put them on the rack.
Well, the time is swiftly approaching for another Halloween and a new costume is sure to make an appearance in the mail any day now. Please don't misunderstand me, I am not complaining. As a matter of fact I am happy that my mother has taken on the task of ensuring my son is dressed appropriately - even if we have nowhere to go.
In honor of my mother and her impeccable taste in Halloween attire, here is a photo of my son last year.

She did a great job. In my opinion this photo is so adorable it is worthy of entry in the cutest kid contest on Deb's blog - Bird On A Wire. I believe I am doing my mom proud. Although I have to admit my husband doesn't agree with the idea of dressing our son up like a duck. He fears Mekhi will be embarrassed by these types of photos in the future. I think Mekhi will understand, this is the closest my mom can get to playing dress up with a grandchild. Unless of course there is a baby girl in our future. Then it is going to really be on!

Can I vote in this contest? I'll make sure that boy wins! ADORABLE!! Make sure you show that to his girlfriends... EVERYONE!!!
He is so cute and doesn't even seem to mind!
And don't worry, I've heard that when they are teenagers, they pay you back for all the embarrassing stuff you did to them as babies....
That is possibly the cutest Halloween costume I have ever seen!
Of course he'll be embarrassed but it's a cross we've all had to bear and those in the future shall be forced to bear also.
It's what we do. Dress em up until they grow an opinion!
He will so hate you later.
See you for GNO tomorrow? Mr. Linky is up!
