Sunday Morning

I know I have mentioned this in the past but every Sunday morning my family takes a trip for breakfast. We go to a place called the Original Pancake House. They serve the best pancakes I have ever had in life. When we first started coming my son was an infant - actually we have been coming since before I was pregnant. Everybody there knows us and has watched our progression from married couple, to pregnant couple, family with infant now toddler. Whenever family visits they join in on the weekly ritual too and as soon as they hit the door request a trip to the Original Pankcake House. They are really that good. My son loves the pancakes.

As you can see he is getting big and in this photo is hanging out patiently waiting for his breakfast. What I didn't chronicle on the camera is the near hysteria that ensued once the pancakes arrived and I didn't cut them up quick enough while trying to shove them in his mouth to prevent a meltdown (I told you they were good - meltdown good).

Here he is enjoying his meal. I am so impressed that my 15 month old son is learning to use utensils and is actually becoming quite a neat eater. Notice the white stuff on his plate, mouth and hands they are called grits. A true Southern dish. As we were eating the meal I thought about my young son and how he is going to be a Southerner. It is funny because I am a fifth generation New Yorker and his father is from Philly. I guess he will pick up on some of our Northern sensibilities when he visits relatives.

Just a random thought there. If you ever happen to find yourself in the Atlanta metro area be sure to check out The Original Pancake House. Tell em' I sent ya (I just wanted to say that because it sounds good; I promise they will look at you with a blank stare if you say that because there are several locations)! Actually there might be a location near you - they are in 28 states including Hawaii.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! I have plans for a play date this evening that includes cocktails - aren't those the best kind? Relax folks, we will be at my best friend's home eating dinner, putting the kiddies to sleep and then having cocktails. You didn' t think I would drink and drive with my child did you?

I don't usually care for pancakes, but I LOVE the pancakes from Original Pancake House! They were voted top 3 (maybe even #1, can't remember) in a local poll a few years ago and we decided to try it--and they are the best!

No, Amazing Grace, sorry for the confusion but I am referring to the Original Pancake House - the pancakes that run circles around that other chain!

That pic of him eating is just toooooooo cute. he's just adorable and so aptly nicknamed. Too bad all we have around here is IHOP and Denny's. The last time I went to Denny's there was hair in my food and I just don't like IHOP, never have.maybe we'll get something good someday.

Wow, I'm so impressed with his utensil ability! Mine are 6 and 3 and I still have to remind them to use their forks. Thanks for your email BTW! It was very helpful. :o)

Yeah, I realized the mistake after I posted it. We don't have one here. I live in the sticks and we are lucky to even have a IHOP. :)

This really makes me want to renew our old tradition of going to Atlanta Bread (or Banana Bread as Evey calls it) every Saturday morning.

Those are great pics!

He is soooo cute and I love one of him eating!

We just had pancakes today that my husband made from scratch, they were soooo good. I think we've been to an Original Pancake House. It was good!

Your son is a DOLL and those pancakes look delish!
Oh, he is so cute and he makes me want some pancakes!

And the cocktails and play date idea sounds great, wish I could come!
He is so, so cute! Those pancakes are making me hungry! I want some now! No offense but I always feel better when someone else's little ones have meltdowns or near meltdowns. Mine have the public meltdown to a science!
My son LOVES pancakes too! I always use them as a back up if he won't eat I'll give him a pancake.

I was born in Ohio but grew up loving grits. Salt and butter, baby! My roommate uses sugar and milk. Yuck!

My kids are both grits lovers. It's the anti-oatmeal for me, even though they both like it. Nope. Not me. I have to have grits.

I love the pics of your cutie son. He is adorable. :-) And as a native Georgia girl, seeing those grits on his plate, I felt like reaching through the picture and asking for a taste. I miss my grits. :-)

You sold me on those pancakes Renee! LOL I'm wishing there is one near me right now which makes me more hungry since I'm on a fast. I'm seeing my doctor for a check-up and lab tests. Have a nice week!

Well, I'd be proud of him also; using utensils already. Heck, my eleven yr old has to be reminded that pancakes are NOT a finger food.
Going out for breakfast is the best, isn't it? It's my favorite meal out but we rarely do that.

I'm an IHOP devotee. But we rarely go because a lot of IHOP's employees are "customers" of my hubby (he's a policeman) and he's always afraid of someone putting something in his food:(

Sounds yummy! I've never been there.

Okay, so I am a little slow, you know I am just now realizing you're in Atlanta. Where have I been? We should get together!

I totally understand. I've been known to have meltdowns when my pancakes didn't arrive fast enough as well! He is darling and I am now craving pancakes.

OMG--we LOVE that place! We have them here in Cinci too, and whenever we have out-of-town guests, that's the first place we take them! Adorable pics, by the way. :)

I love how his face in the 2nd pic says, "mess with my pancakes and I got somethin' for ya!" He's about serious business with his spoon wielding self! lol...
