Rest Day and a Giveaway

Giveaway Closed - Congratulations to Christy M

Today was a rest day for me using the EA SPORTS ACTIVE More Workouts. However, one of my goals is to get exercise in everyday, as little as 15 minutes can make a difference. I actually tried out a couple of different exercises today- I did Billy Blanks Jr.'s Cardioke. This 30 minute workout was a combination of dance moves, aerobics and karoke. Sounds strange right? But singing while working out helps with the stamina and this was a good low impact workout on my rest day. I also think it isi good for people are not used to exercising at all, he had a range of different ages and body types in the video. A great motivator.

I also did a brief Afro-Latin dance routine, I missed most of the show but I liked what I was able to do and it inspired me to do more. Finally I did a walking workout. In total it was 45 minutes of waking and sculpting. I skipped the sculpting and during that portion of the exercise I did laundry. Doing household chores also burns calories you know and since I hate laundry I do it very vigorously!

Laundry. The bane of my existance. And probably everyone else too. But like exercise it is a necessary evil. Lucky for me the one thing I don't have to worry about regarding laundry is buying detergent. My friends at Tide have ensured that I am stocked up and won't need to buy detergent for an entire year. And since it is the holidays and all, we thought that you'd like the gift of a year's worth of laundry too. The lucky winner will recieve a year's worth of coupons for Tide Coldwater.

All you have to do is tell me what tips you have to make doing laundry easier.

Set a specific date to wash clothes. Then, even if you think you are too busy, you will still get all the wash done.
be SURE to keep your dark clothes separate from your whites. You surely don't want your husband going around in PINK underwear!

Have separate hampers for whites, darks, etc . . . so you can save yourself time sorting.

Also, share the load, literally by having one person responsible for gettig the hampers to the laundry area, another for doing the laundry, another for folding etc . . . If you're a solo act, well, give yourself some aromatherapy by using freakin' fantastic watersoftener so at least you'll enjoy the scents as you work.

The best way for me to stay on top of laundry is to keep it sorted as soon as it is considered "dirty" and either put it in the whites or darks hamper. I have several hampers throughout the house like the bathroom and each person's bedroom and in the laundry room, both light and dark colored, so that it's more convenient to put dirty clothes away.

My best laundry tip is 1) to wash often. I live in a small studio apartment and there's no space for more than two loads at a time to be dirty. I guess another tip would be 2) to save all my change. The people at the bank must think wash everyday because I'm always in there getting a roll of quarters. I'm going to pour through these comments and see if anyone has better ideas for me!
I HAVE to take the clothes out of the dryer as soon as the cycle finishes and fold them immediately—this keeps wrinkles to a minimum, and I don't have to iron as much. This is big. VERY big.

I also only use Tide. Seriously. Nothing else has ever worked as well as Tide; it keeps the clothes bright, doesn't fade out the material and it works pretty well on stains. I've tried other detergents, but none can compare to Tide.

My tip is that you should not put anything wet in the clothes basket. That makes the other clothes wet, stinky, and then makes your room smell as well. So keep those wet items laid across the washer or dryer to dry off. Also, why not wash everything in cold water. You not only save money, but also things will get cleaned anyway! I would also dry things in low-heat which saves energy and helps with eliminating the shrinking process. Thanks for the giveaway. Definitely a money saver for whoever wins this.

Treat stains as they happen instead of waiting. Don't let the laundry accumulate too long. As soon as you have a basket full drop a load in the washer. The most important thing I do is alternate laundry with other household chores. By that I mean drop a load of laundry in while you are vacuuming the carpets. When you finish vacuuming you can move the laundry to the dryer. While it is drying go read some of your favorite blogs. Set the timer or you will lost an entire afternoon just reading. lol!

I have a 3 compartment laundry basket in the laundry room. Everyone sorts their laundry when they bring it in. This saves time for me since I don't have to sort through one big pile. Thanks!

Well, I don't know if this makes laundry easier but it certainly makes it less expensive and more energy efficient: plan ahead and do all loads of laundry consecutively. Not letting the dryer cool down saves a lot of energy (which equals cash). Knowing that I'll have extra money in my pocket at the end of the month makes doing laundry much easier for me. :)

What works for us is having separate laundry baskets per person. WHen I do the laundry it is easy to put it away if I just have to go into one room rather than running around from room to room to put away clean clothes.

I don't really have any tips, I hate doing laundry and I usually wait until nothing is clean before I do it!

My tip is to wash on towels with other towels in hot water.

Then I wash all the clothing in cold & line dry!

Adding just a small capful of mouthwash to you rinse water makes clothes smell really fresh!

Doing a bit of laundry as it comes along (instead of waying for it to be in a huge pile) is the way to go! Also, those Purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets also help out a lot! :)
