Relaxing in Atlanta

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting a yoga party here in the ATL. The theme of the party was Relax, Recharge, Reclaim Your Personal Time and it was sponsored by SC Johnson the makers of Off! Clip on Mosquito Spray. I truly looked forward to relaxing after the hectic pace of BlogHer '09 and since I have been out of yoga practice for awhile this party was just what the doctor ordered. The party was held at the new Palomar luxury boutique hotel which is beautiful.

The weather was not on our side(summer thunderstorms rained down intermittently all day) so we were unable to work out al fresco on the roof top terrace but we enjoyed our comfy (dry) indoor accommodations. Our class was led by instructors from the Urban Body Studios and they were fantastic. The practice was about a half-hour, slightly challenging because we all were experienced in yoga and completely relaxing. The class was excellent and I know I am going to take advantage of the deeply discounted classes offered to all attending the party.

After the practice we ate appetizers and drinks that were to die for!

Literally. My favorite had to be the melted brie with apples, delicious! The tuna tartar was also a favorite as was the bruschetta with basil, mozzarella and tomatoes. Yummy. I have to admit that I don't remember the names of the non-alcoholic drinks we had but they were just as amazing as the food.

After great conversation we departed with a great gift bag including a travel yoga mat, a sample of Off! (which by the way works great. I use it when I am outside reading on my patio and it keeps the mosquitoes at bay.) and the bag is a reusable flip and tumble that tucks away into a little ball that you can carry in your purse. I love the flip and tumble, I have one in every bag I carry so I am never without a reusable bag when shopping!

GIVEAWAY!

Although most of you were unable to attend the party I want to share the love and am giving away a gift bag.

Believe it or not, what I normally do to have some personal time, is sit down with the laptop. Just being online for an hour and either writing a post or chatting on twitter, helps to clear my mind a bit and have some "quiet time".

What a great post. I haven't been able to get back into the yoga (it's on the list though)

Morning preparation - I go into my backyard and pull veggies from the garden then I sit under the canopy and write out whatever is in my head.

Night rest - I go into my studio and turn on the little fountain on my table and work making paper or cards or read a book.

Mind you this is at 5am some mornings and 11pm some nights. It takes that long just to finish cleaning and washing dishes, etc.

Blessings

Wow, I wish I lived in Atlanta. That sounded like such a great little retreat, especially after BlogHer (still recovering here).

To unwind, I lay on the floor or on the bed in corpse pose (kind of morbid, I know), and let the stress fall away from me.

It's really hard for me to relax, as I suppose it is for many people. Sometimes, reading does it. Sometimes I try to meditate. Sometimes a bubble bath. I've been working at yoga since November. I'm getting a little more practiced, but I still have a long way to go.

What is that? In the past week I have truly forgotten what those words mean. I have been so stressed that your post is the most relaxing moment I have had in a long time. Normally, I bake to relax, recharge, and reclaim. I forced myself to bake a HUGE pan of brownies that I did not need to eat earlier. I was so stressed with work and getting things done around the house that I just had to create my own loophole for life.

That is fabulous. I'm glad you got the opportunity to come down (in a very good way) from all the excitement.

My way of relaxing is by watching movie at the theater after a long week of working online. Great post by the way.
Wow! You hosted a yoga party? That's fantastic! And from the looks of it, it was really lovely. Brilliant idea, Renee!
