Blog Around The World!

Welcome to all of my Blog Around The World Visitors! (To my readers, I am a featured blog on BATW you can learn more about that here) I will greet you in the way of Georgians – HEY!!!! Why don’t you get comfy and grab a glass of the Champagne of the South that I have waiting here for you. Oh, you say you don’t know what that is – well I will tell you! Coca- Cola is the champagne I am referring to and it is made right here in Atlanta, GA otherwise known as HOTLanta!

I am an Atlantan by way of New York and I love it here. Apparently I am not alone; Atlanta is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. As a matter of fact we are the 2nd in the nation for total population growth in a metropolitan area.

When visiting Atlanta you can never be bored. There are a host of cultural, educational and just plain fun activities here for you to do. You can visit the The King Center – here you can view exhibits, Dr. King’s birth home and pay your respects to him at his final resting place. Atlanta is also the home of the Carter Center (President Carter is a Georgia native) which is committed to advancing human rights and alleviating unnecessary human suffering. The Margaret Mitchell House and Museum is here – she is the author of Gone With the Wind and tours are offered at her home.

Atlanta is an international city, since 1996 Olympics were held here in Atlanta things have been booming. You can visit the Centennial Olympic Park – it is beautiful! The park area is a hub of activity. In walking distance you have the New World Of Coca-Cola, the Georgia Aquarium (the world’s largest) , and Imagine It! The Children’s Museum.

The High Museum of Art is here and always features great exhibits. Currently the Louve Atlanta is being exhibited and History Remixed –Road to Freedom: Photographs of the Civil Rights Movement 1956-1968 and After 1968: Contemporary Artists and The Civil Rights Legacy. The First Emperor China’s Terracotta Army will be visiting us from November until April next year.

Atlanta is also home to the Fox Theater, the Woodruff Arts Center, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Stone Mountain Park, and Six Flags Over Georgia. I can go on and on. Plan a visit to Atlanta, I assure you that you won’t be disappointed. In the meanwhile have a look around my blog – check out my Do Something post and some of my featured posts on the right sidebar. I hope that you enjoy a brief view into my world here in the ATL.

Atlanta certainly is a diverse place to live. I was there for four years while my husband attended Life Chiro College. Made many friends and came to love the area also. Could never live there forever though. The humidity was too much and it was to far from my family.
Enjoy your BATW day.

Your cake creations are ALMOST as adorable as your little one! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the fantastic tour of Atlanta. I used to visit my aunt when she lived there.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I LOVE your diaper cakes. They are the coolest ones I've ever seen!

My aunt moved to ATL about 8 years ago. I fell IN LOVE with the city, the N. GA mountains. We actually almost moved there for work about 2 years ago. I was bummed when it didn't happen.
Greetings from a fellow Georgian! You know what else there is to do here? Today the tickets go on sale for the King Tut exhibit! I cannot wait to go.

Atlanta is such a great city! I have always wanted to visit Margaret Mitchell's home. My husband is from LaGrange, Ga., so we spent some time in Atlanta during our courtship going to Braves games and Six Flags. Now I would love to explore different areas of the city and especially the attractions my kids would love.

BTW, your diaper cakes are adorable!

You make Atlanta sound pretty cool! I always wanted to visit, mostly for the history.
Renee,

I am glad you like it here in Atlanta. I've been here since 1991 and it's still just okay. I am a Jersery girl at heart, but I am moving to Florida as soon as I can sell my houses and get the money to move.
You are making me miss Atlanta! I've lived there off and on for years. It's a great town!

Oh my you have taken me on such a walk down memory lane. I used to hike with my parents up Stone Mountain. I attended the 96 Olympics with my best friend and Father who actually worked at the VB courts during the Olympics. I also have been to soooo many other places you mentioned and love. Thank you so much. I'm thinking it's time for another trip to Atlanta.

I was actually born in Atlanta but moved away when I was 4. I have never been back, but I've always wanted to visit. Maybe someday soon.

Btw - Don't know if you saw it, but they highlighted the Nie Nie Blog on the Today show this morning! I guess they've raised over $100K for the family. Pretty amazing!
Great Blog! Bravo's also debuting "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" in October... that bring a lot of attention to your beautiful city!
Thanks for the hospitality and tour. Congrats on the feature today!

Sounds like a wonderful place with lots of cultural attractions.

Visiting from BATW...

My aunt and uncle live outside of Atlanta, so over the years I've been to a few of the things Atlanta/the Atlanta area has to offer...the Coke museum (I got so sick after sampling all those soft drinks!), The Varsity, Stone Mountain, etc. I haven't been there in awhile, though.

Love your diaper cakes! Very creative!
sorry I missed your day on BATW. I'm a little slow this week. Great visit to Georgia!! Love the Coca Cola Plant I went there years ago when my girls where little. They drank a little too much coke from different countries at the end of the tour...they got real sick.

Renee,

You make Atlanta look so enticing! I'm a native New Yorker myself, Brooklyn, NY that is. I've been living in Atlanta for a very, very long time and I gotta tell you. . . this post has awakened my love for the place.

We've got to plan a get-together, soon!

I love Atlanta, it's my second home. My husband went to GA Tech (therefore, we're one of few Tech fans) and I went to Agnes Scott. Those four years spent in Atlanta were priceless. Being from Middle Georgia I was so ready to get to a bigger city. We're now in Alabama and only a couple hours' drive from Hotlanta. I hope to go back and visit often!
